What's this all about then?

Well that's a very good question! Let me enlighten you...

I had a job. I had a good job actually, one that I liked. Alise has a better job, that she also likes, and which pays more than my job. Elliott had a daycare, which he liked. The trouble was that this daycare cost us about as much as I made at my job.

So, we made a decision. We would sell our house, move somewhere cheaper, Alise could work remotely, and i would take care of Elliott.

It wasn't too difficult a decision to make. As much as we both want Elliott to grow up around children and get social time, we also didn't see too much point in working like dogs so that we could just hand over a chunk of change to a stranger to look after Elliott all day. We'd rather be the ones to see his first steps, to hear his first words; rather than being told all about it by the daycare peeps.

While the decision wasn't difficult, the process has been. The house is still being sold, hopefully closing at the end of the month. We have moved into a new place in Central Mass, the circumstances surrounding that being complicated, but at the same time it works for us all. I'll go into further details in a future post.

Elliott is much happier here, I think we all are. He has a lot more room to crawl around and we've pretty much baby-proofed his room so that he can treat it as a playroom. I'm going to use this time to watch him, play a greater part in his development, write more, work from home (more about that later, too), and reflect on my life.

So this blog will be a messy collection of my thoughts and emotions, with a dash of advice and a sprinkle of good times. It will be random and disorganized, much like its author. This blog will be your window into my life, and my window into the outside world.
